Dean reminds his brother it's been three days and wonders if Bobby would cheer up if he gave him a back rub. Sam suggests Bobby might not bounce back from what happened so fast this time. Dean shows his brother a "glamor shot" x-ray he had done of his chest, which baffled the doctors--sigils all over his ribs and chestbone! Sam's got to have the same. Castiel calls on Sam's cell to find out where they are, and when he shows up, Dean wants to know since when do angels need "to reach out and touch someone." Cas reminds him that those sigils prevent angels from knowing where he is, and that includes him. "Enough foreplay!" says Bobby. "Come in here and lay your damn hands on." Sadly, Cas explains to Bobby that he no longer has the power to do that; he's cut off from heaven. "You're tellin' me you lost your mojo just in time to get me stuck in this trap the rest of my life?" demands Bobby angrily. "I'm sorry," says Cas. "Shove it up your ass," replies Bobby. "At least he's talkin' now," says Dean. "I heard that," mutters Bobby. Cas tells Dean his plan to kill Lucifer won't work, but he has a better one--find God, who started everything, resurrected him and saved Sam and Dean on the plane. read less

"I killed two angels this week; to my brothers, I'm hunted, I rebelled, I did it, all of it, for you, and you failed, you and your brother destroyed the world, and I lost everything for nothing. So keep your opinions to yourself!" "You didn't drop in just to tear us a new hole," says Bobby, "what is it you want?" Cas wants a special amulet that burns hot in God's presence. "A God EMF?" says Sam. Cas nods, but Bobby has nothing like that. Turns out, it's DEAN'S AMULET. (AHA! We always knew there was something special about that!) At first, Dean refuses, but does give it up. "Don't lose it!" he orders. After he gives it to Cas, he says, "Great, now I feel naked." "I'll be in touch," promises Cas, and is gone. Dean rolls his eyes. "When you find God, tell him to send legs!" says Bobby. read less

Bobby hears gunfire through the phone, and it goes dead. Bobby turns and looks at Sam and Dean with concern.

Aunt Margie's Diner--seems like what was once an idyllic little town. Then they run across ELLEN! "Hello, boys," she greets, throwing holy water in their faces. Then she points her gun at them. "We're us," Dean assures her, irritated. They follow her into a church building protected by salt and Devil's Traps. She hugs Dean tightly. "I'm real glad to see you boys," she says. Then she smacks Dean. "You can't pick up a phone?--allergic to giving me peace of mind? I gotta find out you're alive from RUFUS?" Dean apologizes. "You better put me on speed dial, kid." orders Ellen. "Yes, ma'am," promises Sam. (No hugs or smacks for Sam.) She explains that the whole town is demon, except for the group down here in the basement. "This is it, right?" she asks, "End of times?" "Seems like it," says Dean. They enter the basement, where a group of people sit or stand, waiting. Ellen introduces Sam and Dean. She tells them Rufus was in town, investigating omens; suddenly, the whole town was possessed. She and Jo have been hunting together a while now, and got here to find the place this way. She, Rufus and Jo got separated. "I was out looking when I found you," concludes Ellen. Dean promises they'll find her. Sam says they have to get these people out of here, now. Ellen said she tried, but they lost a few to the demons. They discuss arming everyone. "Even baby bump over there?" says Dean, speaking of the pregnant woman. They'll go to a sporting goods store they passed on the way in, search it for guns. Ellen will stay, Sam and Dean will go and search for Rufus and Ellen, too. As they're heading out, Dean suggests he go alone while Sam teaches Shotgun 101. Ellen can do that, says Sam, Dean can't get guns, salt, and search for Jo and Rufus by himself. Sam accuses Dean of not wanting him around demons. "I didn't say that," says Dean. "Fine, then let's go," says Sam. Dean doesn't even want to split up to get salt and guns, but Sam insists they "be professional." In the Quickmart, Sam kneels to place salt containers in a plastic bag. Demons enter the store, teenagers. He gets into a brawl with first one, then another, and stabs them with the demon-killing knife. Breathing heavily in the aftermath, he gazes at the blood on the knife and the floor. He rubs some blood off the knife with his thumb and seems to be contemplating licking it off. "Sammy!" calls Dean. Sam stands in the grocery aisle, two dead demons at his feet and the knife, dripping blood in his hand. read less

Something's not right, Sam tells his captors, spotting a man with glasses standing outside, twisting a ring on his third finger. Sam stares up at the Devil's Trap on the ceiling. "Why isn't it working?" Jo whispers to Rufus. "I don't know," he replies, staring at Sam's black eyes. Sam pleads, "Something's not right. Please, please, just listen to me!" Rufus came to town because the river ran polluted all of a sudden, explains the town padre. On the same night, there was a really big shooting star. "So you think all this comes from outer space?" asks Austin. "This isn't X-Files, pal," says Dean, leafing through a bible. "'And there fell a great star from heaven, burning like a torch, and it fell upon the river, and the name of the star was Wormwood, and many men died'--Revelation 18." "Are you saying this is about THE Apocalypse?" asks the Padre nervously. "You could say," agrees Dean, "now these omens are a prelude to what?" "The Four Horsemen," says the Padre. And which one rides the red horse?" "War," says the Padre. "The cherry Mustang parked on Main?" Dean asks Ellen, who nods. "You can't take that a car. . ." begins the Padre. "That's the way I'd roll," says Dean. "If War's a dude and he's here, maybe he's messin' with our heads." "Turnin' us on each other," says Ellen. "You said Jo called you a black-eyed bitch?" asks Dean. Ellen nods. "They think we're demons, we think they're demons," says Dean, "there are no demons at all, we're all just killing each other." I was in Darfur when my beeper went off. I'm waiting to hook up with my siblings, I've got three; we have so much fun together." "I know who you are," says Sam. "There aren't any demons in town, are there?" "No, just frightened people ripping each other's throats out," says War, pleased with himself. "Take out a bridge here, a little hallucination there, sit back, pop some corn, watch the show. Frankly, you're really vicious little animals, Sam" "No!" objects Sam. "You're doing this!" This place was Mayberry last week, says War, now these people are stabbing each other's children. Because you made them see demons! says Sam. People don't need a reason to kill each other, says War--have you seen the Irish?--they're all Irish. At Sam's sour face, War says, "You think I'm a monster--I'm Jello shots at a party, I just remove inhibitions." "I'm gonna kill you myself," promises Sam. "That's adorable," says War, considering you're my poster boy--you can't stop thinking about it, ever since you saw it dripping off the blade of that knife." "You're wrong," says Sam. "Save your protests for your brother," insists War. "I can see inside your head, and man, it is one-track city in there--blood, blood, blood." Sam is stricken. "Lust," says War, "power, same as always, you want to be strong, stronger than everybody, good intentions, quick slide to hell, buddy-boy." Sam appears close to tears. "You feel bad now?" says War. "Wait till you're thigh-deep in warm corpses, because my friend, I'm just getting started." War stands and reaches into his pocket, causing Sam to flinch. He takes out his glasses and puts them on. "Showtime for the meatsuits!" War crows. He twists his ring and blood begins falling down the middle of his forehead. He kicks over the other chair, falls to the floor, grabs his head and begins to cry out in pain. Rufus and Jo run in. "He did it! He said they're coming to get us!" shouts War. Sam's eyes are black. "I'm not what you think, honey," says Ellen, and urges her to press down on the Padre's wound. Rufus takes the gun from the young man shooting upstairs. "Stop firing usually means stop firing," he says, taking the gun with him. Austin pulls Ellen (who, to him has black eyes) onto her back and pushes his gun into her face. He shoots, but the gun is empty. He switches to a knife instead, pushing it closer and closer to her throat. War is heading to his red Mustang to escape, but Sam and Dean grab him. Using the demon killing knife, Sam cuts off the man's finger--and the ring. Ellen's eyes go normal; Austin stops his attack and helps her up.
