Annie and Britta are working on a fundraiser to help the damage from the Gulf Coast oil spill; Troy finds Pierce's mother's dead body but Pierce insists that she's not actually dead according to their quasi-Buddhist belief system.

The rest of the group voices concern that Pierce doesn't believe the reality of his mother's death, but Jeff says they should respect his belief system as they would their own.

Psychology professor Ian Duncan is now teaching anthropology in place of Dr. Bauer while she is under suspension. He has a restraining order against Chang, but Chang is equipped to stay exactly 25 feet from him and remain in the classroom at the same time.

Annie and Britta use different techniques to get Gulf donations; Annie gets more money from being cute than Britta does from being confrontational.

Jeff is devastated to find out that he has slightly high cholesterol levels.

Britta is bitter that she's not raising as much money as Annie and blames it on the fact that Annie sticks out her chest and laughs at guys' unfunny jokes to get money. Shirley, meanwhile, is bitter that she wasn't asked to join their fundraiser.

Pierce explains his religion to the rest of the anthropology class, despite Jeff's assertions that it's a cult because it requires making purchases.

Britta mocks Annie's personality to get money for the fundraiser; Professor Duncan uses his restraining order to prevent Chang from getting food; Professor Duncan tells Jeff that the only reason he's trying to sabotage Pierce's religious beliefs is because the god he worships, himself, has high cholesterol is therefore falliable.

Jeff pretends to take Troy and Pierce out for ice cream when he's really taking them to the county morgue to see Pierce's mother's dead body. Britta and Annie argue about the fundraiser until an oil tank from their demonstration spills onto Annie and the two engage in an oil-soaked catfight.

On the way to the "ice cream place", Pierce discovers a CD his mom mad him before her death. They play it in Jeff's car and in it, Pierce's mom explains that she wants her son to know that she's dead, not vaporized, and it's important that he knows that. Pierce chalks it up to her "losing her marbles" before she was vaporized, and Jeff and Troy decide it's better just to let him think she's in the vaporizer.

Annie and Britta raise more money during their catfight that they had during the rest of the week. They make up by Annie saying she only kissed Jeff so she could be cool and sexy like Britta, Britta saying she only slept with Jeff because she hates herself and that's why she was jealous of the attention Annie was getting.
