During Spanish class, Senor Chang catches Pierce throwing bits of paper into a sleeping Jeff's open mouth. Senor Chang finally wakes up Jeff by screaming in his face. After class is dismissed, Troy playfully latches onto Annie's back, saying to Shirley, "Look, I'm Annie's backpack!"

Britta notices that Jeff looks unusually tired and has only shaved half of his face. He changes the subject by pointing out that Vaughn is nearby. She takes the bait and goes up to Vaughn in hopes of reconciling with him. Vaughn, however, has no interest because she's "toxic". Pierce overhears this and offers to talk to him for her, but she adamantly refuses. Pierce decides that means he should talk to him.

Shirley and Britta watch as Jeff brushes his teeth and washes himself in a faucet by the parking lot. Britta wonders what he's doing, but Shirely sets her straight. After all, she made her husband live in his car after he called her "Valerie".

While the group waits for Jeff in the library, Pierce reminisces about the time he lived in his car back in the 70's. He also tells Britta that he tried to talk to Vaughn, but instead of confronting him, he became the keyboardist for his band. When Jeff walks, Shirley lets him know that she and Britta know he's living in his car. After Jeff's car is towed, he goes to Abed's dorm and asks if he can live with him. Abed's happily lets him in. Later, Jeff tries to get the money to get his condo back. Abed tells him that he's just like Goldie Hawn's character in the movie Overboard, who realizes that she's happier raising kids with Kurt Russell's character than she ever was getting manicures and being arrogant. Jeff decides it wouldn't be so bad to stay with Abed.

Annie loans Troy an heirloom quilt for his picnic with Randi. He hugs her, but then he leaves. Shirley tells Annie that she has to let Troy know how she feels about him, but Annie's scared to lose his friendship too. Shirley reminds her that love is all a gamble. Meanwhile, Pierce and Vaughn are performing a new song about "Britta the B---".

Britta interrupts Pierce and Vaughn's band practice to tell them stop playing the song. Vaughn tells her that he just writes what he feels. Pierce gets angry that Vaughn's taking all the credit for the song and they break up the band. Britta interprets Pierce's behavior as defending her honor, though really he was more concerned about the song.

Troy takes Annie to the infirmary, where the nurse doesn't find anything wrong with her. Still, Annie pretends to be in a lot of pain so that Troy will stay with her, but the nurse's advice is for her to be quarantined for overnight observation. Troy leaves her to go meet Randi.

Meanwhile, Troy is about to put his jacket around Randi's shoulders when Annie escapes from the infirmary and screams at him to stop. She still doesn't tell him she likes him, but she takes back her grandm...

He tells Britta and Abed that he checked into a motel and is looking for apartment, but Abed is really cool. Abed says that Jeff's a huge nerd, and they hug. Of course, Abed winks at Britta at the same time.
