It's almost one week into the new semester, and the dean of Greendale Community College tries to give an inspiring speech to welcome the students. It doesn't have the intended effect because part of the written speech is missing, and unfortunately, Dean Pelton doesn't realize this until he's already named the stereotypes of community college students and wished them luck in "loser college".

Abed wants to make friends with former lawyer Jeff, but he's more interested in Britta, with whom they share a Spanish class. Abed tells Jeff that Britta is having trouble in that class.
Later on, Jeff meets with Ian Duncan, a former client and professor of Human Sciences at GCC. Jeff's less than legitimate Columbian bachelor's degree has caused the state bar to suspend his license. He wants Duncan to help him cheat his way into earning a degree from Greendale. After all, seven years earlier, he got Duncan's DUI charge dropped through somewhat dubious means, so it's only fair.
In the cafeteria, Jeff invites Britta to study with the group he tutors in the library. Of course, there is no group, and Jeff has a very poor command of Spanish, but it's a way for him to get closer to her. Britta's suspicious, but she meets Jeff at the library anyway.
After some small talk, things seem to be going well for Jeff until Abed shows up. It turns out that Britta had invited him to study with them. As things get awkward, Jeff gets a text message from Duncan and he goes to meet him on the football field, where Pierce is trying out for the track team.
Duncan offers to give Jeff the answers to upcoming Spanish test but warns him that it's not the right thing to do. Jeff, unconcerned about what is the right thing to do, accepts the offer.
When Jeff returns to the library, he sees that Pierce, Shirley, Annie, and Troy have also joined the study group at Abed's invitation. Jeff asks Britta if she would rather leave and go have dinner with him first, but Britta's response is that she'll leave early with him the group proves to be un-tutorable.

Jeff takes another break to meet with Duncan in his car, where he hands him an envelope full of test answers. In return, Duncan asks to drive Jeff's Lexus for the entire semester.
Upon his return to the library, Jeff learns that Britta has found his true motives. She calls him a shallow douchebag, but to shut him up, she agrees to go to dinner with him if he can manage the group.

Jeff leaves the library with the envelope Duncan gave him, but when he opens it, he doesn't find test answers, just blank sheets of paper and a note that simply says, "Booyah." He conforts his friend, but Duncan tells him that he's going to have to learn to do things the right way, even if it's the hard way. He can't cheat his way through life anymore.
On his way back from Duncan's office, Jeff meets Pierce and the other group members. He admits defeat, and Britta invites him back to the library to study with them.
