Dean Pelton announces that it's the last day to sign up for spring semester electives. Britta and Troy are taking an acting class together at the recommendation of their dance teacher. Abed is taking a critical analysis class of "Who's the Boss?". Jeff is taking Italian wine tasting. So is Pierce, much to Jeff's dismay.

Jeff meets Chang at his first wine-tasting class. Evidently Chang's there for the drunk women and to steal everyone's coats. Pierce gives Jeff a bottle of his own special wine as a present. A beautiful woman named Wu Mei bumps into them and Jeff and Pierce. Jeff tries to pick her up but she shoots him down harshly.

Trust Exercise

Britta and Troy begin their first acting class. Troy notices Britta's body when she takes off her sweater to reveal a clingy tank top underneath. Professor Garrity has the class sit in a circle and perform a trust exercise in which they express painful memories. Troy has nothing painful to add at first, but suddenly he confesses that his uncle molested him.

Abed is fascinated by his new professor's book, while Britta treats Troy with extra sympathy because of what he said during their class. Pierce walks into the study room with Wu Mei and announces that they're getting married. Jeff is irritated and confused. He tells the others that this can't be a legit marriage, that Wu Mei is after Pierce' money or a green card or something. As they disperse, Abed notices Britta being especially affectionate to Troy. Jeff tries to find a way that Pierce may be taking advantage of Wu Mei but she doesn't need any of his legal expertise. Jeff can't stand the fact that she's marrying Pierce. Annie argues that maybe they really are in love but Jeff plans to break into Wu Mei's apartment anyway.

Pierce hosts an engagement party for Wu Mei and himself. Jeff, still incredulous that she would choose Pierce over him, does some investigating and learns that Wu Mei is from Pierce's corporate competitor, Red Dragon Wipes. Meanwhile, Britta takes offense when Pierce uses the term "cornholing" and explains to the group that Troy was molested. Troy admits that he made up the story, but before he can feel the consequences, Jeff announces his findings and exposes the truth about Wu Mei before offer...

Jeff invites Pierce to a party at his apartment but Pierce refuses because Jeff betrayed him. Jeff says that he was doing him a favor and Pierce replies that she may have been using him for his business, but he was using her for sex and that was fine with him. He also tells Jeff that he thinks the real reason behind his expose was to prove that no woman could ever want him.

Time in the Spotlight

Troy apologizes to Britta for using her. Britta admits that an ex-boyfriend told her that she's only attracted to unhealthy guys, which is unhealthy in itself. Troy suggests that maybe in the future, she will fall for a normal guy, implicitly referring to herself. Troy later confesses to the class and in doing that, expresses the pain that he'd wanted to be able to bring to the first day of class.

Abed is the Boss

Abed uses a complex formula to prove that he was right as to who, exactly, was the boss. His professor's defeat breaks his spirit, but he takes comfort in his book that analyzes the show "What's Happening!!".

Britta asks Troy if he's still going to take the acting class and Troy mentions that he's auditioning for Professor Garrity's all-black production of "Fiddler on the Roof." Jeff reunites Wu Mei with Pierce and they agree to use each other after all.
