Jeff meets Britta in the cafeteria where he is celebrating a B in nutrition class and she is knitting an eye patch for the cat she's going to adopt from a shelter. A high school kid taking courses at Greendale asks to ask her a question. He inquires about what she and Jeff did to screw up their lives so badly that they're celebrating a B in a community college course and knitting for stray cats.

Jeff and Britta take their anger at the high school kids out on the rest of the study group. Pierce sings a corny love on his guitar and Abed smashes it in a reference to Animal House. Abed reveals that he has a checklist of things to do his freshman year of college based on what he's seen in college movies. Troy offers to help him and to cross two more items off the list, Troy "pantses" Abed and Abed returns the favor. Everyone finds it hilarious. Then Pierce pantses Shirley, which no one finds...

Meanwhile, after the pantsing incident, Shirley announces that she's fed up with Pierce and either he leaves the group or she does. The others immediately choose her over Pierce, as he's managed to offend everyone.

Jeff compares one kid's mother to a "Real Housewives" character and Britta picks on him for having divorced parents, but this doesn't bother him a bit. The group comes up with an apology for Pierce to say to Shirley so that she'll agree to have him study with them again. Pierce isn't sorry, but he goes along with it until he apologizes to a different black woman who happens to be sitting near Shirley in the courtyard, thinking that it's her. Shirley and Pierce exchange bitter comments in the library study booths, but they find that they both feel left out by the other group members because they're not "cool" enough. Pierce admits that he respects Shirley more than anyone else in the group because she's a hardworking mother and that's more than any of the others have ever accomplished. And so they make up.

Food Fight!

The high school kid sees his mother with Jeff but still isn't bothered because he knows it's pathetic attempt to get back and him and his friends and he says this to them. The mother now wants her son to get back at Jeff, and it turns into a 12-minute fight consisting of Jeff, Britta, and the high school kids seeing who can saying "Duh" the longest. Shirley and Pierce pants the high schoolers to put and end to the fight, but it elevates it into an epic, "Animal House"-style food fight.
